This page contains
two of my photo albums from past vacations.
My 2001 kayaking trip in British Columbia,
and my 2002 river rafting trip in Alaska.
In 2001, I took a week long kayaking trip
to the Inside Passage in British Columbia,
Canada. The trip was run by
Northern Lights Expeditions, and was the
best vacation I have ever taken. It all
began with a seaplane flight from the
Seattle, WA area to Port McNeill on
Vancouver Island. The trip included five
days of kayaking in the Inside Passage,
camping at two different campsites, White
Beach on Compton Island, and Shaker on
Hanson Island. From these two sites the tour
paddled to a variety of islands, including a
visit to Mamalilaculla, a native village on
Village Island. Another highlight of the
vacation was paddling along side a small pod
of orcas (killer whales). These beautiful
animals swam under and past my kayak, and it
was a breathtaking experience.

Following
my kayaking vacation with the whales, I
decided to take on a different river
adventure. This time, my travels took me to
Anchorage, Alaska, where I met my guides
from Osprey Expeditions and embarked for my
river rafting trip down the Copper River
along the western border of the
Wrengell-St. Elias National Park & Preserve
and the
Chugach National Forest. The river
portion of the trip began in Chitina and
ended in the Copper River Delta near
Cordova. Along the journey down river, we
paddled through Miles Lake, under the
Million Dollar bridge, and past the calving
Childs Glacier.
